"This hotel continues to charge hidden "resort fee" of $12 per day. I visited this property in 2003 and, upon departure, was outraged to see this hidden charge on my statement. The front desk person was quite rude and refused to remove the charge. She did, however, tell me that others had complained and the company was doing away with the hidden surprise fee within the year. You can imagine my annoyance to see this fee again in 2004. When I complained to the front desk staff I again was greeted with a rude employee who grudgingly removed the charge and told me that she was entering the incident into my "guest profile." What does that mean? That I'm on report? I'll never stay at a Starwood resort again.
My biggest complaint is that the fee can easily be added to the quoted room rate. Why have a room rate of $410 per night plus the hidden $12 resort fee. Why not simply quote charge $422? It's deceptive and wrong, in my opinion. It's a tactic to make their already high rates seem somewhat lower and more competitive. I don't like to be tricked."

Situated on the Atlantic Ocean in Hollywood between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa is approximately eight miles from Ft. Lauderdale International Airport.
The resort has four on-site restaurants: the main dining room, the atrium lobby lounge, the poolside Splash Bar & Grill and Common Grounds a Coffee Bar (Open from 6:30 AM 22:00 PM Sunday-Saturday) featuring espressos, lattes and cappuccinos along with pastries, salads, wrap sandwiches as well as evening coffee and cordials with European desserts. Take out available.
The hotel is also home to three pools, including a 240-foot lagoon-style pool that sits parallel to the beach and a suspended glass-bottom pool. There are 10 clay tennis courts on the premises and the 155-acre golf course is yards away. The European Diplomat spa features fitness center, whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms and 17 treatment rooms.
Room amenities include cable TV, hairdryer, and coffee/tea maker.
